A Loyal Promise.

I still remember the day when I was taken from my home and family but it was countless years ago. Life for me was hard from both ends from my past and my present day. If only I could have seen her and said my goodbye for one last time. My name, was Shadow star and this is my story.

It all started in the year witch I believe was around what I believe was 1953. Me and my sister were just born from a family of wolves inside a large forest where no man has touched. It was morning when we were born, though I was the first to be born but everyone from my pack and I knew that my sister was special for her fur was shining like the very sun as it's light reflected off of her body, making her a pure beauty of nature and so, mother has named her, Golden Sun. Five months have passed and we grew and learned everything about the forest and even about the dangers of mankind but since no man was around, we lived our lives happy and free. But then, two hunters came with shot guns and found our pack. We lost about ten but only five of us remain, that includes my mother and Golden Sun.

We ran away from the hunters, thinking they got what they needed but they chased after us saying that they want Golden Sun's coat. We continued to run till we lost them but the day after, the same two hunters were still chasing us and didn't stop no matter how long. We ran, ate a little, and ran some more for days, weeks, months, and years. I grew tired of the humans but I was no match for their weapons and over the years, we slowly lost our family, even our mother. Me and Golden Sun was left. We continued to avoid the same hunters but one day, as we were catching our breaths, the hunters caught Golden Sun in a net and were taking her to their truck. I was about to stop them but one of them shot me with their guns at the shoulder.

I still remember the pain, it was like getting a rock thrown right through you only more painful. I was loosing allot of blood and the hunters placed Golden Sun in their truck. Even though I was in pain, I still didn't want those monsters take my sister but the pain was to much. " This wolf staring to annoy me. " One of the hunters said " Just put it out of it's misery and let's go, Mike. " the other said to Mike. As Mike aimed his gun at my head, I couldn't do anything, I needed help but no one was around. As I heard the gun shot, nothing happened, I felt no pain and when I opened my eyes, I saw that the bullet was floating in mid air and I looked around to see that time itself stopped but I was able to move. I did not understand but then I heard a voice. The voice of a strange creature I never seen before.

" You wish for your sister and all of the animals safe from man? " the mysterious voice said. I looked to find the owner of the voice but all I saw was the hunters, my sister, and an owl with a purple mark on it's forehead. Then, the owl unfolded it's wings and flew down affront of me, only to transform into a monster that look's similar to the hairy man witch I heard of but only this time, he was covered with white fur, had spikes on his shoulders, sharp claws, four golden eyes along with four pointed ears, and a purple horn with spikes all over it on his forehead. I was terrified by the figure but he patted my head and smiled. " Who are you? " I asked the stranger, " I am Akrigan, Master of the Knawls. And I am here to help you. " I was curious and scared but I had to ask him. " With what? " I said with fear in my heart as Akrigan replied, " Why, save your sister of course. Here's the deal, I shall save your sister, kill the hunters, and prevent any more from entering the forest so no more shall live in their fear. In exchange, you will serve your loyalty to me, Shadow Star. "

I did not know what to say, He may have the power to stop time and change into animals but I don't know if I could trust him. Akrigan had a impatient look in his eyes and gets up. " Fine then, have it your way. " he turns around and walks away as time slowly moved forward, all thoughts rushed through my head, my death, my sisters death, my family's death! I couldn't bare the thoughts anymore so I raised my voice and said, " Please! Save her! Save my sister!!! " After that, Akrigan turned his head and smiled with these words, " It is done. " After that, he vanished only to reappeared affront of the bullet as time moved to it's right course and took the bullet for me. The hunters were shocked to see Akrigan and they open fired but their bullets did nothing as Akrigan healed his own wounds. After the hunter lost their ammo, Akrigan swiped his claws and killed two of the hunters with one swipe each. My eye's widen with shock for I have never seen any animal who can withstand that many bullets and survive but I shook my head to see that Akrigan ripped the truck door off, and freed my sister. Golden Sun rushed over to me, with tears in her eyes. I smiled knowing that she was safe but that reunion ended as Akrigan lifted me up as a dark vortex appeared behind us. " Do not worry, golden one. Your brother will be alright but you will never see him again. Farewell. " As we were heading for the vortex, all I heard was Golden Sun's cry for she didn't want me to leave. But...I made a promise so I can see her safe from the humans.

I ended up in a dark cave like place as Akrigan placed me on the floor. He then told me that as we left, he created a force field around the entire forest so no man can enter in any way. He then took two of the spikes off his horn and placed them inside a piece of meat and placed that meat affront of me. " Eat, you'll need your strength for you will become one of my general's. " he said as I looked at the meat. I did not know how this would help me with my wound but I did as Akirgan said and ate the meat. After than, my entire body felt strange as it began to change, I began to change, my wound healed but the transformation was slightly painful but after a few minutes, I was no longer the wolf I was. I was now, Gartzer, the Knawl. I thanked my new master for his kind deeds and I went on to serve his orders. There was no man who can stop me, no weapon could kill me. I was reborn with unspeakable powers, a monster I became but I still remembered my times as a wolf. Years later, My master was defeated by his enemies and I was all alone. I had nothing to do now since my master was gone, but I still remember where my old forest was so I went there to see nothing has changed. I looked all over to find Golden Sun but she was no where to be seen but I must see her again. I must know how she is after these years. I searched every corner of the forest but she was no where to be found. One day, I found a pack of wolves and though they were terrified by me, the soon accepted my presence. I asked them if they have seen a wolf with golden fur and what I heard, shattered my heart, Golden Sun died 4 years ago, the young pup said. I asked the pup how he knew my sister and he said that she was his grandmother. I was surprised and happy to hear that our entire family lived on after the hunters but my heart still sank after the news of my sisters death. The pup showed me where Golden sun died. It was the very same spot where she and I were born, her body was covered with dirt and fallen leaves as if she was buried after she died. I sat affront of my dear sisters grave and began to cry. I then made a grave stone and placed it behind Golden Sun's grave and I left that day. " Golden Sun. Beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother, and Sister. May you rest in peace knowing that your memories will live on inside my heart forever. Your dear brother. Shadow Star. "
